I received a letter from the FAA notifying me that the owner of Smooth Landings in Northumberland, PA was found guilty on federal charges. The issue is that he falsified aviation records, used unauthorized parts, and forged inspections and log books and failed to process 337's and other FAA documentation. They recommended to anyone that had work done on their aircraft have it inspected to insurte the correct authorized parts were used, it was properly installed, and the proper paperwork filed before flying the aircraft.
I was lucky, but had to have the work checked out. Still waiting on the 337 issue for my storbes.
Glad they finally got this guy. I had my plane painted there. He kept the plane for 6 mos. Put 35 hours on the hobbs and charged 3K more than the price agreed to. Had to get attorney to get the plane back. I filled a complaint with the FAA, but was told no safety violations were done so there was nothing they could do. Hopefully though maybe it got them looking closer.
