It will be interesting to see how algore and his kool-aid drinkers counter this new scandal. Here are some excerpts:
"It raises ethical questions about a group of scientists who contend humans are responsible for global warming".
"It's disconcerting to realize that legislative actions this nation is preparing to take, and which will cost trillions of dollars, are based upon a view of climate that has not been completely scientifically tested."
"I simply can't believe that there is a kind of mafia that is trying to inhibit critical papers from being published."
A small nevere yes, I am a liberal, not for 100% of the things the dems do, nor am I a fan of the GOP most of the time, that is not the point one way or another. I do find the use of pointless derogatory terms a waste of time. It ads little to nothing to a debate or conversation and weakings the character of those using them. While Kool aide is a tasty treat on a hot summer day, I find that the use as posted is not.
I am not offended, nor a politically correct speaker in most cases, I just find that is polutes the forum. it is my opinion and you are more then welcome to disagree, it is your right and respect that.
And the truth is my post has nothing to do with the Article that was linked, this reply was exclusive to the kool-aide remark.
and yes I did mean derogatory
Main Entry: de·rog·a·to·ry
Pronunciation: \di-ˈrä-gə-ˌtȯr-ç\
Function: adjective
Date: circa 1503
1 : detracting from the character or standing of something —often used with to, towards, or of
2 : expressive of a low opinion : disparaging
If you read the article you can see the "science" behind man caused global warming is based on faulty data, the emails exposed something many knew already....it is a hoax perpetrated on a gullible public. Anyone that still wants to believe in the religion of global warming is a kool aid drinker.
There recently was a death of a 98 year-old lady named Irena Sendler. During WWII, Irena, got permission to work in the Warsaw Ghetto, as a Plumbing/Sewer specialist. She had an 'ulterior motive' ... She KNEW what the Nazi's plans were for the Jews, (being German.) Irena smuggled infants out in the bottom of the tool box she carried and she carried in the back of her truck a burlap sack, (for larger kids..) She also had a dog in the back that she trained to bark when the Nazi soldiers let her in and out of the ghetto. The soldiers of course wanted nothing to do with the dog and the barking covered the kids/infants noises.. During her time of doing this, she managed to smuggle out and save 2500 kids/infants. She was caught, and the Nazi's broke both her legs, arms and beat her severely. Irena kept a record of the names of all the kids she smuggled out and kept them in a glass jar, buried under a tree in her back yard. After the war, she tried to locate any parents that may have survived it and reunited the family. Most had been gassed. Those kids she helped got placed into foster family homes or adopted.
Irena was recently up for the Nobel Peace Prize ... She was not selected.
It is offensive and derogatory to common sense that anyone that would believe that stuff is not a cool aid drinker. Further to even suggest that it is offensive to use those words to describe such a belief means common sense has taken a vacation and has a new zip code.
It doesn't weaken the character of those that use it but rather it shows they get it - unlike those that would like to control the words of those that describe the situation graphically.
The real attempt by the liberals is to control the conversation by diverting attention to some personal slight. That speaks volumes about the person who announces that they are offended when the words were not directed at them personally. Such objections means to me they do not want the underlying subject criticized, as they are concerned that others may be persuaded. It further suggests the underlying subject is something of value to them and hence the objection.
It is a common tactic by the PC police to use the word “offensive”.
The want to use the "play fair tactic" to their advantage by using demeaning the words used so that the person that uses those words feels bad. The attempt in claiming the words are "offensive" is to play on the emotions of an individual to seek an apology because somehow they are offended even though it was not directed at them personally.
Free speech is to be applauded not demeaned. Actually it isn’t “Political Correctness” but rather speech censoring and that is offensive.
This one really exposes the "agenda". When something doesn't makes sense from a scientific or statistical view then look at the money and power side of it and it suddenly is very clear.
This whole global warming thing drives me nuts. For these silly dirt people to think that somehow man has THAT much power over nature is just ridiculous. I am a common sense logical type. I don't go off on some agenda. In this case it is control and figuring a way to make money i.e. tax something. This and other things will do more harm to this country that the terrorists ever could...
Just think. Look at the way the continents were divided millions of years ago. Northern Africa and New York City were neighbors. And it does not take a genius to see how Africa and S. America once fit together. NATURE separated those and moved them around and created oceans and the like. That was long before SUV's, coal fired power plants, and private jets. Man cannot produce enough to overcome the power of nature. Otherwise we would have learned to control the weather long ago. It ain't gonna happen. But neither is changing the minds of people who don't want to be changed.

I guess those who hope to achieve world domination have learned from history, noticing that a direct attack such as Hitler tried, or subversive tactics such as Stalin's approach didn't work, so now they hope to accomplish this through brainwashing people into believing in the dogma of climate catastrophy and self appointing themselves as the saviours. It's all about power and wealth. I sure do hope they fail at this as living in a world controlled and dominated by such as Gore etc. isn't my idea of paradise.
But it is comforting to know that our new administration is hard at work protecting the rights of the ones who want to wipe us out:
Navy SEALs Face Assault Charges for Capturing Most-Wanted Terrorist:
Navy SEALs have secretly captured one of the most wanted terrorists in Iraq — the alleged mastermind of the murder and mutilation of four Blackwater USA security guards in Fallujah in 2004. And three of the SEALs who captured him are now facing criminal charges, sources told FoxNews.com.
The three, all members of the Navy’s elite commando unit, have refused non-judicial punishment — called an admiral’s mast — and have requested a trial by court-martial.
Ahmed Hashim Abed, whom the military code-named “Objective Amber,” told investigators he was punched by his captors — and he had the bloody lip to prove it.
Now, instead of being lauded for bringing to justice a high-value target, three of the SEAL commandos, all enlisted, face assault charges and have retained lawyers.
So you don't believe in the rights of the accused? Innocent until proven guilty means nothing to you? The only thing being protected here is the American way of life and the ideals on which this country was based.
Aside from that, none of this has anything to do with the President or his administration. This is standard procedure and would take place regardless of who is in the White House. If the servicemen are innocent, they will be cleared of all charges. If they are not, then they broke a law and deserve whatever punishment the Navy imposes.
rob: Thanks for your counter point. You prove the point.
The wide chasm that exists between those who know we are at war & what that means.
and those
Who think we are in just a little police action (requiring f-16's, armored personnel carriers and divisions of combat troops all over the world). Who think we should be giving constitutional rights and Mirandizing those captured on the battlefield.

Not I. Though I believe what was said, depending on the circumstances, I don't know enough about the issue to comment. I do doubt that the Obama administration had anything to do with it, much as I doubt that you'd be screaming the same if the Bush administration was in control.

One could surmise that if they wish but "Navy SEALs Face Assault Charges for Capturing Most-Wanted Terrorist" and enemy combatants tried in civil court on U.S. soil would never have happened on the Bush watch and rightfully so.
It'd be a court marshall. Doesn't fall under the same procedures and laws of our judicial system. I don't know if they have the right to a trial by jury in this instance, much less a jury of their peers.
obama, the commander in chief, just pardoned a turkey for Thansgiving. This turkey was then honored in a Thanksgiving day parade in Disneyland. You would think he would give those Navy SEALS at least the same respect, dismiss all charges against them and give them a parade in their honor for capturing the terrorist that killed & mutilated U.S. civillians.
So I guess we know the pecking order in the obama administration between a turkey and a SEAL.
Wow. JoeyP got shut down pretty quick, didn't he? I'll bet dollars to donuts that he, his experience and enthusiasm will be a little less likely to participate in this forum. And it all ended by using the Thanksgiving turkey, traditionally pardoned by the President, as part of an irrational and unrelated rant against Obama.
Is this not what the issue with this forum is- INTOLERANCE? A whole discussion about global warming that was surrounded by insinuations that the "other" side (liberals) had no common sense? "I'm right and Democrats want to enslave America." There are CREDIBLE scientists on BOTH sides that have different opinions about the subject, and we- the country- should be having a rational, reasonable discussion about it. Where I work, if we the SLIGHTEST MICROSCOPIC trace of contaminants it could mean a large radioactive release. I don't discount the effect of the minutia, even on the environment.
And if we're really at war, why don't we have a draft? If we're in the "fight of our lives," why are we so intent on not being inconvenienced by it by paying higher taxes, drafting recruits and rationing essentials so we can "win" and be done with it?
And for pardoning a turkey instead of SEALs. They are not guilty yet, that's what the trial is for. Let the legal system work. And for giving them respect- Obama has nothing to do with them WRT giving respect, and it's a meaningless connection that was put together on this forum or on a Fox News Commentary show. If the SEALs and Obama met in the street, the SEALs would salute Obama.
Just because we are at "war" doesn't mean that we don't have an obligation to live up to our ideals, no matter what we think is appropriate or how hard it may be. Just because we think we're at "war" doesn't mean that the Constitution ("...all men are created equal...") and it's intent gets tossed out of the way in favor of vigilante justice. That's what really takes courage- to rely on your ideals when it's the toughest, not just when it's convenient.
If we all get caught up in calling each other kool-aid drinkers and shouting down dissenting opinions then nothing will get done, no one will learn through the civil exchange of ideas, and we are truly doomed.
Andy Z - For me anytime someone starts the PC game it is very annoying. For me it was not shouting down those with dissenting opinions but rather responding to the tired old PC line.
Obviously those that feel compelled to defend the Kool-aid drinkers should do so. But equally they should not get "offended" when there is dissenting opinion. If they want to drink in the Progressive Liberal D's line - so be it.

I don't think JoeyP was playing the PC card on this one, I just think he doesn't like being labeled and his opinions dismissed. Besides, insinuating that he is brainwashed or uninformed ("drank the kool-aid") can be offensive and has no place in civil discussion. Whether or not "civil" means "PC," I'll leave that up to you, but underneath it all, if anyone speaks to me with the intention of insulting me then it escalates the discussion to a new, unnecessary level.
And what exactly is wrong with the Progressive D's line? Progressives in this nation have brought about many lasting, positive changes in this country. Progressives fought to end slavery, Jim Crow Laws, and forced integration in the South because conservatives there wouldn't do it, while conservatives set records filibustering against it on openly racial lines. Progressives worked to ensure a woman's right to vote. Progressives worked to institute safety standards for workers during the Industrial Revolution. Progressives won Medicare for Senior Citizens- a problem with no practical free-market solution, except to work until you die. Progressives worked to end the Vietnam War, often against the Democratic party. Progressives worked to silence Senator McCarthy's reign of Communist fear-mongering.
Progressives are needed just as conservatives are needed, and BOTH sides of the debate should be heard and not dismissed or disrespected so simply.
Note that most of the wonderful things claimed to be "progressive" involve the buying of political support with other people's money. Socialism is wonderful until you run out of other people's money, then reality sets in and spoils the fun. some of these progressive successes have resulted in horrific consequences. Anyone heard of Pol Pot?
However, this thread started off with the mention of the exposure of the scam that trades under the guise of "climate change". If you approve of the goals of those persuing this agenda then you would have been delighted had Hitler won and achieved his goal of world domination. Personally I am hoping that the likes of Gore et al are exposed for the scam artists they really are. If you are interested in meeting the father of this then read up on Maurice Strong, a Canadian.
