Anyone that has a KX 125 or knows about them know if there is a way to get the display brighter. There is a contrast adjust on the front, but ours is hard to read in darkness. The red backlight on the LCD is just dim.
I can't seem to find anything to get it brighter and no one around here knows either. I asked an av. shop and he just shrugged me off on it...
On my airplane, we wired the KX-125 brightness control to the avionics rheostat and it is adjustable with that. If you don't have a rheostat, one could likely be installed. Works well.
I was wondering about that. When I bought the plane, the 125 was all that it had with an xponder and 203 indicator. I thought I remember it being brighter....Then I took it in a few weeks ago and had a KX-155/KI-209, PSE 6000MC installed and we moved the 125/203, xponder down as a #2. Now I swore it was dimmer than before. I wonder if the shop did not rewire it to the dimmer. When I turned the dimmer all the way up(it basically is just on/off since the rheostat is old), it does not change. Only other lights go on/off on the indicator, xponder, audio panel and Davtron clock.
So I will talk to the tech and see if he changed that. I could not find any paperwork on wiring for a 125, so did not know if it had a brightness adjust via the connector...
Do you know the pins? Or do you have a wiring diagram?
I have the KX-125 Installation Manual. Here's what it says re: 14V. dimming:
Note 8, page 2-7:
"For tracking of a 14V lighting bus, connect 14V LTG (P100-22) to 14V dimmer bus, 28V LTG/GND (P100-Y) to ground, and Dim Select (P100B) is not connected."
P100 is the wider of the two connectors on the back of the KX-125. It has two rows of 22 pins Here's how the pins are numbered: bottom row, right to left: 1 through 22; top row, right to left: A through Z (with G, I, O, and Q missing). So, "22" is on the bottom row, last one on the left side (as viewed from behind the unit); "Y" is on the top row, next to the last one on the left side; "B" is on the top row, second one from the right side.
If your installation is 28V, let me know and I'll quote that.
