I have one of those V shaped wire nav antennas that mounts on the top of the tail just below the strobe. Im in the middle of replacing the strobe unit so the antenna is off the plane at the moment.
Question is, originally, when i bought the plane and up until yesterday when i removed it, the antenna was (to me) on there backwards (if the V were and arrow, it was pointing to the back of the plane). This seemed kinda odd to me, look only good for spearing birds that got to close. So when we put this thing back on tomarrow, will it hurt my nav reception or anything (glideslope possibly?) if we flip it so the two ends point backwards and the V points to the front of the plane?
It will work either way. The new Pipers all have the "V" pointing forward. The nav antenna is designed to pick up siganals in front of and behind the aircraft.
