Could you maybe help me to get wiring diagrams and/or installation manual for Piper Autocontrol III autopilot.
Or maybe also info’s where could we get such a documentation.
We have this autopilot installed in our ‚76 Piper Arrow and it is not working. We should to check why, but we cannot reach any manuals or diagrams for such a old autopilot.
I had my Piper autopilot repaired at Penn Avionics in PA. They do a great job. They used my Autopilot to make a movie showing how the autopilot works. Take a look at the address I noted below:
Thank you for that link, you may have just saved me a whole bunch of money. I just had my whole autopilot system rebuilt and it was not following the nav signal correctly. I have spoken to many shops about it and was about to spend more cash on it being looked at again. After watching the video on your link I found out the heading bug needs to be aligned with the course flown even in nav mode. DOH! I hope my problems are as simple as that.
And when tracking a nav, if you leave the heading bug 5 or 10 degrees off of the direct heading of the nav it is tracking it will reduce the amount of rocking back and forth (zig-zagging) that you get.
