Wow, thanks for bringing this to my attention. This is my training plane. Although we don't know exactly what happened here, what I've heard is that Steve flew with his family to New York from South Jersey Airport in Lumberton, NJ. After spending a week with family, they left to come home and shortly after take off had the issue with the landing gear. Unfortunately after a successful landing, the ground crew damaged the plane extensively dragging if off the runway and the Insurance Company and totaled the plane. This is the story that I have heard.
