Just wanted to let you all know the problem I had with my left main landing gear on my aztec. Problem started when I noticed that my plane wanted to roll to the left big time. My 3 greens were not lit but the uplock white light was also not lit. I pulled the gear selector up and it went to neutral on its own, which should give me a good indication that the system is working. Anyway, called tower and did a fly by and they told me the left gear was still down. I came in for landing and the gear came down and landed fine. Anyway, on the jacks we noticed that the gear was stuck! There was so much corrosion in the pivot bolts that the gear was stuck! Greasing did not help. Anyway, had to cut the bolts off to get the trunion out and then sent it out to a machine shop where they applied 10 tons of pressure to get the old bolt and bushing out of the trunion.
Obviously this did not happen overnite, and it tells me the 3 shops that did the last 3 annuals did not grease the gear!!! Just be careful and make sure that the shops do actually do the work they say they do.
Anyway, was curious why the gear selector came back to neutral even though the gear was down?
