The seal around my landing light in my Cherokee 140 is shot. I can't find a part number. The seal looks like it would be sold by the foot. Anyone know where to get it and what to ask for? The seal I'm looking for is pointed to with a red arrow in the pic. Thanks!
According to my PA-28 parts catalog, the seal you're looking for comes as part of the retainer assembly. There's no part# specified for the seal alone.
How about wrapping the light with seran wrap then making your own gasket with a bead of silicone sealant,install the landing light and just tighten the srews until it starts to ooze a bit,and there you have a custom gasket with a perfect fit.
There was an AD note on ceratin PA-28-140's concerning the landing light seal on certain airplanes. The one that has the landing light "inside" the oval air filter. It seems that seal was on the engine side of the filter and could get drawn into the carb if it deteriorated. Better check that and make sure it's right. Randy
