I've used the "Scratch Off" deluxe kit with good results. The kit cost about $65 from Aircraft Spruce, and I used a cordless electric drill on slow speed to spin the buffing pads. Spin them too fast and you get swirl marks that need further polishing to get rid of.

Depending on how deep the scratches are, you can try different things.

For light stuff you can try 210 and 210-Plus. That's all I use and it works well for the small stuff. Won't touch deeper scratches.

Spruce carries these as well as other products that may be just as good - don't know.

There is a product out there called FLITZ. It works to get that light scratch stuff out that really catches the sun. Not too good for deep ones, but deep ones leave distortion after repair.

Try using Micro Mesh. You can buy this in a kit. It will remove small or deep scratches. The repair of deep scratches will have to be spread out over a larger area to prevent distortion. Also, you have to make sure you don't go below minimum windshield thickness.
