I just bought a 1970 pa-28 140. In 1988 Deemers wing tips were installed. I can not find any info on these tips. Are they still made, did someone buy them out? I show a stall speed of 41 kts. They droop down about 12" in the back.
The Deemer wingtip is called a Madras, after the town (Madras, OR) where the owner of the STC lived. There is a thread on this forum dating to about 2003, in which the STC owner was quoted as saying he didn't intend to produce or sell any more of them. Hoerner tips will do about anything they Deemer will do, without the negatives.

They add too much drag, slow down your cruise a couple MPH.
Also they look kinda goofy. On a Traumahawk, they look so wierd, like something you'd expect to see on a Russian airplane.
Gusts during slipping will cause the low wing to attempt to tuck under. The droops eliminate some spots as off-field landing sites due to the potential for brush whacking the low-hanging tips, and they reduce the wing droop that can be used during crosswind landings.
