Got new Met Co Aire stabilitor tips and Wing tips.
They are all drilled and the counterweight (inherent problem with their wing tips) was taken care of.
The stabilator and wing tips fit extemely well. Drilling was not that big of deal but you have to super careful. Met Co Aire was really easy to deal with. Very helpful and in fact gave me a huge deal on everything. The drill guide was extemely useful. If anyone is going to put them on their airplane - let me know and I will give you a tip regarding drilling.
They are in the paint shop now. Should be done by Thursday.
I am going to see how much they really help my airplane.
Will post what I find.
I did the stabilator tips just because the old ones are about 40 years and beginning to show their age.
I love the Metco tips on my Cherokee 140. I could really tell the low speed handling and climb difference from flying an otherwise identically-equipped 140 that had the stock rounded tips. I would not have thought much about wingtips before I bought this particular plane, but it came with them already installed by previous owners, and now if I ever trade for another Cherokee that doesn't have Hoerner-style tips, that'll be the first mod I install.
You didn't test-fly the plane after putting them on? , before sending it to the paint shop? I wouldn't have been able to resist it.
I've just added a set of upswept hoerners, with the position and strobe lights relocated inside the landing light lenses, and slightly sheared trailing edges. Haven't had a chance to fly them yet due to tach problems, but got that resolved yesterday so hope to fly soon as the crappy weather passes through.

Frank, how did you come to choose Met Co Aire?
I am planning on adding the Knots2U tips because I want the HID landing lights. I'm just waiting for my A&P to find the time.
I just never gave the landing light addition a thought.
My friend has a 180 with the wing tip lights and it looks awesome at night coming in for a landing.
I seldom land at night or even fly at night. The 3 occasions I do is July 2/3 and sometime during the first 3 weeks of December. The last one is shooting landings but when I do I never leave the airport pattern.
July is too look at all of the fireworks and December is to look at all of the Christmas lights.
Where I live it is not all that friendly to fly at night due to the terrain. Not a lot of farm land around.
