i own a cheerokee 6 pa32-300.
i have two problems. 1st one is that my ac clutch does not engage, i tested the power going to the compressor, i get a reading of 9.5 volt. i jumped the power from the battry to the compressor and the clutch engages everytime. i think that the power is getting shorted some where. need help to trouble shoot. such as what the voltage should read.
problem #2 there are two solanoid next to the battry box one facing the port side or the left wing and the other facing the cabin. the solonoid that face's the fire wall or the cabin heats up when i turn battery switch on with my master electronic switch off. this solonoid heats up so bad that could burn your hand. i need to know what is causing that and if that is normal?
My best guess is that you have an internal short in the windings of the coil in the hot solenoid. It is probably only a partial short, meaning that only part of the windings are shorted to ground, enough to lower the voltage and create the heat, but not enough to trip the circuit breaker. This could also be the cause of the low voltage to your AC compressor.
