Can anyone give me info re Louvers for a 78 Turbo Lance. I know where I can get the parts but want to know how I can get the info to satisfy an FAA field approval for the mod. Thanks Dick
There are STC's with louvers but the drawings and information I suspect are trade secrets. In my state that would be a serious criminal offense to give that type information away. Louvers not covered by an FAA STC you would be on your own with the FAA to approve or reject your plan. Giving someone the "trade secrets" of another's STC can get you a trip to jail.
I am not doing this to scare anyone but to inform you that this can be serious. Most people do not know about this I suspect.
Texas Penal Code
§31.05. Theft of trade secrets.
(a) For purposes of this section:
(1) "Article" means any object, material, device, or substance or any copy
thereof, including a writing, recording, drawing, sample, specimen, prototype, model,
photograph, microorganism, blueprint, or map.
(2) "Copy" means a facsimile, replica, photograph, or other reproduction of an
article or a note, drawing, or sketch made of or from the article.
(3) "Representing" means describing, depicting, containing, constituting,
reflecting or recording.
(4) "Trade secret" means the whole or any part of any scientific or technical
information, design, process, procedure, formula, or improvement that has value and that
the owner has taken measures to prevent from becoming available to persons other than
those selected by the owner to have access for limited purposes.
(b) A person commits an offense if, without the owner's effective consent, he
knowingly:
(1) steals a trade secret;
(2) makes a copy of an article representing a trade secret; or
(3) communicates or transmits a trade secret.
(c) An offense under this section is a felony of the third degree.
Different states have different laws and I am not a lawyer. I fear that too many people may not know it can be a Criminal Penalty. There are many other factors that can enter into the situation. For legal advise you need to contact a licensed attorney and discuss.
I am just trying to be helpful and do not want to see anyone get into trouble.
