I bought a Power Flow Tuned Exhaust System and now am looking for someone near to install it onto my PA-28-140.
I live in Eastern North Carolina and hanger my plane in Beaufort, NC.
Does anyone know of some place close to me that has installed this exhaust system before?
You will gain hp up to what the engine is rated to nothing more than that. A 150HP engine only puts out 150HP. The powerflow exhaust essentially makes the exhaust system more open allowing for less back pressure and more flow of air into the intake and then out the unrestricted exhaust. You may right now only be getting 125HP out of your 150HP engine because the standard exhaust is inefficient and isnt allowing all the exhaust out on each combustion stroke. I will buy you a power flow exhaust if you can show me anywhere from the company that states a 150HP engine will put out more than 150HP after the exhaust was installed, not in a percentage but says the engine produced 151hp or more. It doesnt and won't do it, its tricky marketing, the wording makes you beleive you will but try gettin them to put that in writing on by stating "the engine will produce up to 23% more horsepower beyond the manufacturers rating" They wont and I'll bet on it. By the way lycoming specifically states if you want to get 100% available power at any given setting, a 4 inch exhaust stack is most efficient on each header. Good luck getting the FSDO to approve that but goes to show the company already knows a full exhaust gives you less than optimum output.
Anyone can show me otherwise email me piper72pilot@hotmail.com
I agree my 160hp 320 will only develop 160hp at 2700 rpm, but I've yet to see anywhere near 2700 rpm for takeoff. More like 2425 rpm. OK, I've got a cruise prop, but this still applies.
The HP increase PowerFlow boasts IS there, in the form of extra rpm developed from better breathing. Those extra rpm's relate to better performance. Same thing you get from headers on a car, except there's no concern for the rpm limitations on a car.
PowerFlow's Dyno tests, below, show the increase in available power. I need those extra rpm's, and will upgrade soon.

Peak Horsepower Developed:
PFS Tuned Exhaust:157.1hp
OEM Cessna exhaust:133.3hp
That's a 23.8hp difference! Those extra horses really give you a dramatic pitch angle on Vx and Vy climbs. It is by far, the most impressive difference you will notice on your first flight after installation.
Keep in mind that these power improvements are based on running the engine at full power and under optimal conditions. Will you gain all that the manufacture claims? No way! Who runs thier engine at full power during cruise? Now during climb-out you more than likely will see a power difference.
Hi
Anyone know the approximate cost, how long it takes to get one on order, and anyone in the Massachusetts area who can instal it?
Thanks

James-
I have been using Proficient Aircraft in Southbridge, MA for annual inspections. Jeffery Has been good with his work and fair with his prices. Though I do not have a powerflow exaust on my cherokee, Jeff is a dealer for powerflow and he should be able to quote you an installed price over the phone. Jeff is basically a one man show with some other people that help him. If you visit his shop you can tell he has no shortage of work, that alone tells me he's fair and knowlegeable. 508-764-8168 Jeffery Kupiec
