I've been wanting to put together a map with all of the airports that I've personally flown to since I've been a pilot. It was a fun exercise to go back through my logbook and remember all the fun flights. I decided to try out GoogleMaps and it worked out really well. I then imbedded it into my website. I added all the airports that I went to and put some information about the flight and the planes that I've flown into each of the airports. Let me know what you think.

Getting it into Google Maps was pretty simple. I used the "My Maps" option in GoogleMaps and added all my locations. When I got all of them added I clicked on the link in the top right corner of the map that says "Link to the page". It then gives you a link that you can paste in your webpage.
Getting it to work in Wordpress was a little more difficult. I had to ad a plug-in that allows for using the Google API. Here is a link to the page that helped me get it working: [avi.alkalay.net]
Looks great! I had played with this idea a few months ago, but became frustrated with Google Maps' unwillingness to display more than 50 locations at once. That's when I ran across "www.ourairports.com" and that has worked pretty well for me.
Looks like you've done a lot of work on your website since my last visit. Very nice.
It is pretty easy to list the airports in Google Earth.
After opening Google Earth go to "ADD" at the top and click on "Placemark". A pushpin will appear. It will blink with a square around it.
Look to the far left in the columns and in "MY Places" you can type a name in. (it will be blinking)
You can add a photo pretty easy and add a personalized description if you want.

I think that there is a good way around this 50 location limit. If you look at the Google Maps for Wordpress Plugin page in the "Using Google My Maps or KML and GeoRSS maps" section you can export the KML files from My Maps and then upload to your webserver and load them when you call the GoogleMaps API. I was planning on trying this too since I plan on going over 50 airports soon.
