Would KHEF (Manassas) be the best airport to reach Arlington, VA? By best I mean best prices, lowest fees, reasonable service, physical access to Arlington, etc. for a Cherokee driver. Planning to be there on March 6, 2008. I'll check out the AOPA site for the ADIZ requirements.
Okay, never mind, I've checked on the ADIZ and now realize that you can't get into the FRZ without having already been there and having gone throught the background check and a briefing (this is catch-22 if I ever heard of it). I'm looking at Shannon airport (EZF) and driving in for about an hour.
When I went to DC and also Arlington, I used Manassas as I was afraid I would be close to dark. Glad I did. FBO was very helpful and rental cars much better priced than smaller airports (ie $100 less for long weekend) Also longer runway for 100degrees and max weight... my wife packed...
