Dave, does the Airtex headliner material have "2-way" stretch to get around complex shapes? There are some materials that are much better than others to get around multiple complex curves and recesses, particularly like those of the overhead console. Most nearly all of them will do the "simpler" items like the overhead ducting and window trim.

Paul,

Do you know where to get that material?

I am now at the point of the headliner and plastic overhead pieces in my Arrow II. I've done the entire panel, and have replaced the fan ducting from the hatrack to the overhead console. It was cracked and deteriorated beyond repair. I've replaced all the interior plactic that couldn't be straightened with a hair dryer, repaired, etc. Its amazing. I remember when (I'm 52) my dad brought home my first plastic toy. It was made of Bakolite and it lasted a whole 15 mins before it broke. I'm amazed that our plastic interiors have lasted 30 years. However, the durability curve had fallen off the cliff for mine very quickly this past 6 months. I'm at the point of spraying the plastic or covering with material. Ya'll on the forum who have covered your interior plastic trim have absolutely to die for interior results!

I love to do this kind of finish work as it is therapeutic for me. If you can point me in the right direction, Paul, I would appreciate it.

ebay

1969 Piper Cherokee with no expenses spared. Only 250 hours SMOH on Lycoming O-320-D2J engine by Mattituck including the 160hp STC upgrade. This airplane is also equipped with a Powerflow exhaust system that adds 10-15 HP($5,000 alone). 4655 TTAF (approx - aircraft is being flown regularly), New Sensenitch Prop 50 hours. All AD's complied with as per extensive annual completed 6/07 by Lincoln Park Aviation Lincoln Park, NJ. Pitot static, transponder and ELT 5/07. Current IFR. All logs are complete, aircraft has light damage history due to wing damage in 1970 or so due to a ground loop, repaired by Piper as new. Copy of the damage report is available. Tail number 8190N.

Almost everything on this aircraft has been replaced or overhauled in the last 36 months, including but not limited to fuel tanks, struts, tires, brakes, heater, heated pitot, and more. Over $80k has been invested in this aircraft in the last 4 years. (not by me) Have all maintenance invoices for your inspection. I purchased this aircraft as equipped with the exception of the new propeller, composite spinner with front & back plates, Metco Wing Tips, & C-Lite plexi-glass nav-lite reflectors.

Brand new custom upper and lower powder coated instrument panels by Avionics West of Santa Maria, CA which included all new circuit breakers, new accessory outlet, new wiring, and more. …This is about as economical (8.5–9 gph leaned 75%pwr) & push button, an aircraft gets in this class!

The avionics list is simply outstanding for any single engine aircraft, let alone a Cherokee:

Garmin GNS 430 GPS(no terrain), S-TEC System 50 autopilot with altitude hold, S-TEC GPSS roll steering computer slaved to the Garmin 430, VOR/LOC/BC tracking slaved to the Garmin 430 and the glideslope/VOR's, , Garmin GI-106A Glideslope/VOR indicator, King KI-208 VOR indicator, King KX-155 Nav/Com (backup for Garmin 430), Garmin GTX 327 digital mode C transponder, PS Engineering PMA-7000 audio panel with three light marker beacons, 4 place intercom, dual push to talk on yokes, PS Engineering PXE-7000 AM/FM/CD player/stereo, avionics master switch, Davtron Chronometer and ring lighting.

Also included are upgraded Whalen wingtip strobes, tail strobe, new Rosen tinted sun visors, & HOBBS flight hour recorder. This aircraft has been hangared all its life, and it shows, never a flight school trainer. The white/grey paint with red stripes was done in 2001 and is a 9, the interior a 7 (no rips/tears, but could use updating)… even has a new suede dash pad/glare shield with hand grips.
This is simply, one of the nicest, best equipped Cherokee's around. If you’re looking for a 1st airplane to train in, or just want an economical weekend flyer…From a safety standpoint, why start with an airplane that has nothing and needs everything, when this Cherokee has it all? Hands down, a well equipped aircraft makes for a more confident pilot.

8190N has always been a Southern California Aircraft until I purchased it 6/06 to complete my flight training. It is totally corrosion free, and is currently hangared at Lincoln Park Airport (N07) in NJ and can be shown by appointment. I am selling it to buy something more complex. this unit comes with aviation/marine/road maps. I think if you are to use this in an auto I would reccomend getting the street upgrades from garmin.

Unit was seldom used as a back up to my 430. It has manuels, yoke and dash mount, charger, power cord. Very little use and in good condition. I'd like to get $950 for it. I will spend 1200+TX and $50 mo. for XM WX service.
