Low oil pressure

Fighting an intermittent oil pressure problem on my 1978 turbo arrow 3. Oil pressure spikes normally on start up and within 5 minutes slowly moves into the yellow range. Most recently it happened in flight. I normally sit at 50 PSI in cruise. Yesterday it was at 35 PSI. After landing at idle power I could barely keep it above redline. Seemed like a classic oil pressure relief valve issue. But I had that changed and 3 flights later it has happened again. Have also checked filter and screens.

it is not a sensor or sending unit as we hooked a analog gauge up and it matched.

all other indications normal.

any suggestions/thoughts ? Thanks

  • Just a thought, can it the bypass valve in the oil

    filter adapter?

  • I've come across a couple cases in my research over the years where defective oil filters played a little havoc with oil pressures. Carl

  • Looks like i have quite a bit of erosion where the oil pressure relief valve seats to the accessory case. Pretty sure that is the culprit but will report back. Looking at lapping the seat or possibly need a new accessory case.
